Amitabha A Story of Buddhist Theology by Paul Carus [1906]

This is a short story set in the first century CE during the height of Buddhism in India. Carus uses the story as a frame to discuss Buddhist concepts of God, non-violence and religous tolerance. Carus, the proprietor of Open Court Press, was a prolific author on Buddhism, Taoism, philosophy, and other topics, many of which also appear at this site.
